Suspect At Large After Girl Shot In Broad Daylight Near Central Islip Intersection

Police are investigating a broad-daylight shooting that injured a girl near a Long Island intersection.

Two groups of teenagers were involved in a physical altercation on Anne Lane in Central Islip on Wednesday, July 13 at approximately 11:45 a.m., Suffolk County Police said.

After the fight broke up, the groups split and left in two separate vehicles, said police.

While sitting in the backseat of a Toyota Camry, the girl, age 16, who was present during the altercation, was shot in the shoulder near the intersection of Oakland Avenue and Evergreen Avenue, at approximately 11:50 a.m., police said.

She was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
